Are you integrating Spanish into your homeschool curriculum? Are you looking for a better and faster way to include language into your schedule? If so, you will love this quick and easy book by Carolyn Woods called Lightning-Fast Spanish for Kids and Families: Learn Spanish, Speak Spanish, Teach Kids Spanish – Quick As A Flash, Even If You Don’t Speak A Word Now!
I was fortunate to get an electronic copy of Lightning-Fast Spanish for Kids and Families from Carolyn Woods to review and I must say, I was very impressed. The book is set up to give a non-Spanish speaking family a good start in conversing in Spanish. Since immersion is considered the best way for all language learners to effectively learn language, having a conversation set up is a great way to get Spanish dialogue quickly and easily into your home.
After a brief introduction to the basics of Spanish and ways to use the book, Ms. Woods has the book broken into 15 lessons and includes a fun and activities section at the back to add more depth to your Spanish immersion. The lessons can be used in any order, with the exception of the 15th lesson, which is an all-inclusive review of the previous 14 lessons.
The lessons include topics such as “getting dressed,” “what’s for lunch,” and “how was school today.” The lessons give you a dialogue for your family to use including gestures and ways to set up the scenario so it works well for your family and your home. They are easy to customize and easy to use. In addition, they only take a few minutes of preparation and you are off to using the dialogue and to everyone learning Spanish.
We have just started with Lesson #1, “Getting Dressed.” Though you do not have to start with the first one, this seems easy to implement into our daily schedule and, as I love to put check marks on our daily to-do list, I can mark off Spanish before we even get to the breakfast table. The kids and I are having a great time including our new language into our daily routine.
If you are looking for a quick and easy way to bring some fun Spanish language into your home, this is a great way to get started. Obviously meant as an introduction and not a complete program that you would want to use for your college-bound high school student, Lightning -Fast Spanish for Kids and Families is a great concept and we are looking forward to using this program in the months to come.
In addition, Carolyn Woods also has several other Lightning-Fast books in other languages so, if Spanish is not your language choice for your family, you might want to see if one of her other books will work for you. She offers the same book in French, German, Chinese, Japanese, and Italian. The book is a quick read and easy to implement, I would definitely recommend your family checking out Lightning Fast Spanish for Kids and Families.
