My daughter is 7 and reading at her 2nd grade level in German school but she struggles in English. I’m looking for an easy chapter book that she can’t resist. Any suggestions?

German School – that is exciting. Such a good thing to have language integrated so early. As far as a great chapter book, have you tried the American Girl series? My daughter loves these though they may be a little advanced, you will just need to take a look. Junie B Jones is one that my daughter is starting to get into and Amelia Bedelia is highly recommended and another that my daughter likes. Though Amelia Bedelia has readers as well as chapter books so you have to look. Some are just longer, more difficult readers. But they are great and funny so the kids enjoy them. There was another one that the librarian recommended to me and I can’t remember the name but I will see if I can find that and get that to you. It was a pretty cute story line and very light chapters. Good luck, if you want some more recommendations, just let me know, I’m happy to help.

Great list Tawnee – how do you decide the books you select for your kiddos and the curriculum?

Hi, thanks for stopping by. We started with a boxed curriculum our first year and it was great but I really enjoy putting together the books that I want to include and have since switched us to the Charlotte Mason approach to learning through living books. We are loving it and it will be our primary next year. I do a lot of looking at books, reviews, and other curriculums to take what I think is the best to use for us and to go along with other things we are studying. I am primarily referring to a free online curriculum called HUFI (Higher Up and Futher In) as our curriculum for next year. I am very excited. Though we covered some of the books this year so I am moving others we want into the curriculum and moving around a little to suit us. Thanks for asking.

I am on my fourth year of hceosohmoling our three children ages 15, 13 and 10. My favorite thing about hceosohmoling is knowing that my children are building strong family ties and we are not so confined to someone elses schedule. My husband is a shift worker and sometimes has to travel away from home. So when he is here so are we. Everyday is a learning experience for them and also for myself as you really get to know each of your children. What works for one child may not work for another. Trial and error process.

We’re doing virtual K-12 right now, but considering switching. This program sounds promising–thanks for sharing π

I have a friend using K12 and she is thinking about switching too. Hope it all helps you out. Getting to decide what your kids do and share with them in the love of learning is such a joy. Thanks for stopping by.
