Whether you take a full summer break or just random breaks throughout the year as needed, a break now and then from the daily routine of homeschooling can be necessary. It’s not just good for you and the kids, it’s needed to recharge and refocus. Here are some benefits to a much-needed break.
End the Monotony – A daily routine can be important for parents and kids. But sometimes a break from the monotony can make getting back to the schedule easier and give you a fresh start.
Refocus – At times, a break can give you a chance to refocus the studies. Maybe you have gotten off your path or wandered away from the intended schedule. A break can give you a chance to start back refocused.
Play and Explore – Learning is always occurring if you make your home an “environment for learning.” A break can be a great time for exploring, imaginative play, interest led learning, and free reading. A break is also a great time to take some field trips and enjoy some fun learning in a different environment with the whole family.
Planning – Savoring a break can give you time to reflect on the past year and plan for the next. Taking the time to stop and think about what worked and what didn’t work for you and your family can help you plan a fun and successful next semester o even next year.
Take the time to enjoy your break, let your kids have some time to be kids. Set up a learning environment and you will be surprised at the learning that continues even outside your normal schooling scheduled day.
