This year we have made the commitment to start being a little more natural, a little healthier and a lot more frugal. Our lives are full of chemicals, additives, extras and things we don’t need to spend money on and we have decided that what we started in 2013, we would commit to in 2014. Here are 10 ways we are going more natural, healthy and frugal in 2014
- Use more Coconut Oil – we are using it in products and cooking.(healthy and natural)
- Make our own Hand Soap – we are making our own hand soap, the foamy kind (healthy, frugal and natural)
- Clean with Vinegar – we are replacing some of our chemical and store bought natural cleaners with vinegar (natural, healthy and frugal)
- Make our Own Facial Scrubs – we are replacing our facial scrubs with homemade natural scrubs (natural, healthy and frugal)
- Make our Own Laundry Detergent – we are replacing our detergent with homemade detergent (frugal)
- Work out as a Family 2 times a week – we are walking as a family after meals at least two times per week and if we can’t we will work out at home together (healthy)
- Replacing our traditional candles with soy candles – traditional candles add toxins to the air. We are replacing them with soy candles. Since they are derived from vegetables, they have no toxins or chemicals being released into the air. (healthy)
- Replace our Dryer Sheets with Softener Sponges – we go through a lot of dryer sheets. We decided to change to liquid, dye free softeners and then use it on sponges in the dryer. (frugal)
- Add Probiotics – we have decided that working on our gut health is important and have decided to add probiotics to our diet, either in pill or in more consumption of Greek yogurts. (healthy)
- Get better sleep – sleep is so very important to our overall health. We have vowed to get better sleep by lessening night light use, emphasizing bedtime routines, and limiting electronics prior to bed. (healthy)
Are you doing anything to be more frugal, healthy or natural this year?

All wonderful ideas for taking care and only consuming and using healthy food and cleaning products.
Here are a couple more. Use white vinegar in cold water to wash your fresh fruit before eating it. Removes dirt and insecticides. Healthy!
When I was a kid, Mom made paste for our art projects. She boiled a pint of water, mixed 1/4 cup flour in a half cup of cold water then stirred it into the boiling water, It thickened to the consistency of pudding. Cool it and place in small containers. Store in refrigerator until ready to use. She didn’t have to kill a horse to make it and if we ate it, we wouldn’t get sick.
It was inexpensive too.
Love it. Had no idea about the homemade paste. Definitely going to try it. We always have those ingredients around and seem to always be out of glue. Thanks.
