I have decided to try joining up with some of my Schoolhouse Review Crew friends with Random 5 Friday posts. I’m not sure where this will lead me but I thought I would give it a try.
So for my first Random 5 Friday post I’m going to tell you —
5 Random thing we are looking forward to this summer
1 – Camp – This will be my oldest daughter’s first year for overnight camp. This is exciting for her and, of course, a little scary for me. But she is beside-herself excited and we are in preparation. It’s only 3 weeks away now so the countdown has begun.
2 – Moving – We are moving this summer back to our old house in our old neighborhood. (Long story.) So we are excited to be moving back to be with our friends, and sad to be leaving all our new friends who we have been with the last couple of years. But overall it will be cutting my husband’s daily commute, help us spend more time with our son, and puts us closer to our Classical Conversations friends.
3 – Night Time Tag – My kids LOVE night time tag in the summer. This has become a special daddy time with the kids and the kids look forward to it. In fact, most of the neighborhood kids look forward to it. The kids who we haven’t seen all winter or spring come out of the wood work for night time tag but its fun to hear the kids having so much fun with my dad running around the cul-de-sac chasing the kids.
4 – Our Garden – Spring and summer are gardening time and we love our garden. Seeing the fresh vegetables, herbs, and flowers is one of our favorite parts of summer. We can’t wait to see the first ones ready to eat!
5 – Evening Walks – We try to walk whenever the weather is good but summer is especially nice because the walks are longer and usually find us at the dog park or the playground having fun as well. The amount of time walking increases and we have a wonderful time with the family (as well as at least one or 3 or 4 neighbor kids that seem to come with us making us the Pied Piper of evening walks. (Last year we had some many kids with us that a guy felt compelled to yell out from his back yard “do you guys love kids or something? — yes, yes we do! Another guys said we looked like the Brady Bunch. People feel compelled to comment when you are walking around with a ton of kids.)
