Loving Math with Math-U-See Digital Packs – Review

MATH! That word in many homeschool’s sparks tears and send moms into panic. We went through four math curriculums out first year of homeschooling before the tears and frustration subsided. And they subsided thanks to Math-U-See from Demme Learning.

We have been using Math U See for 4 years now and have had great success! We just started over with Alpha with our second child this year. We have had the opportunity to review Math-U-See Digital Packs Delta Level from Demme Learning, which is their newest product in the Math-U-See family.

The Math-U-See Digital Pack is an excellent addition to the Math-U-See family. When you purchase the Math-U-See Digital Pack for your level, you receive the lessons through the website as well as answer keys, word problem solutions, and more digital extras. The subscription is for one year of usage.

The Math-U-See Digital Packs are used in conjunction with the rest of the Math-U-See products. You will still need the Student workbook. However, you may be able to go without the Teacher Guide and DVDs since the lessons and answer keys are included in the Digital Pack. And Math-U-See now offers a digital manipulatives app for purchase, which means you would not need the actual blocks if you don’t have them and are willing to use the app. (You can see a demonstration about the manipulatives app here.)

Though we have been using Math-U-See for several years, this is the first time we have looked at the Digital Pack. What I really like about the Digital Pack is that it makes working on different computers or on the go much easier.

For instance, we tend to change the location of where we are doing school lessons, depending upon who has completed what and which computer they are working on, so not having to move the CDs is great! Also, since we can view it on our tablets, we can view a lesson at grandma’s house or while out of town without the need to take along a laptop and DVDs. I really like this option.

The Digital Manipulatives app would be good for on-the-go too. Though we have the actual math blocks, which we love, this would be a great advantage to the digital app.

If you aren’t familiar with Math-U-See, the video lessons are great! Mr. Demme’s style is fun and engaging for my kids. The lessons are short and to the point. And being able to repeat as necessary is great. Most of the time, my kids only watch the lesson, either on DVD or digitally, one time, then they work through the workbook lessons. However, if they have an issue with a lesson, they can watch a lesson as many times as needed.

Over, we love Math-U-See from Demme Learning and it has been a great fit for our family. The Math-U-See Digital Pack has been a wonderful addition and helpful for making math even more successful in our homeschool.
