The Belle of Patience – Esther (A Book Review)

Teaching values and character development to your children is important. I love when I can find a great book or video that teaches a character lesson to my children that they understand and enjoy. This is where The Adventures of Rooney Cruz comes into play. The Adventures of Rooney Cruz are Bible stories are a series of books that highlight five superhero women of the Bible – Hannah, Abigail, Ruth, Deborah, and Esther. I had the pleasure of reviewing 2nd book in the series – Esther.

Esther: The Belle of Patience is a great book for every age and very appealing to the young girls in your family. Who doesn’t love the story of Esther, she’s amazing, right? Beautiful, humble, courageous, and very patient. The story of Esther is one that all my kids loved, even my 6 year old boy. My 11 year old and my 2 year old both enjoyed the story and we are so glad we had the opportunity to read it.

So, a little about the book series. Rooney, the main character of all the books in the series, experiences some life experiences and then, with the help of her guardian angel, Mari, learns about the “superpowers” of some amazing women in the Bible. Throughout her personal experiences, and understanding the experiences of these Biblical women, Rooney earns her own superpower. So, in the case of Esther: The Belle of Patience, she earns her “superpower” of patience. (Who couldn’t use a little of that?)

All my kids loved the book and so did I. The book is an easy, one-sitting, read, which is good for learning about a lesson, so we can talk about it after. It was easy for my 11 year old to read to the other 2 kids and the colorful illustrations throughout made it very engaging for my kids, even the 2 year old. Learning about how God implored these normal women to do great things for Him is a great story as well and we all enjoyed the book, Esther: The Belle of Patience. I look forward to reading the rest of the series with my kids.
