My School Year (Homeschool Record Keeping) is an online record keeping and planning program with numerous features to help any families plan out their school year. Some of the features included in My School Year (Homeschool Record Keeping) are:
- Attendance Tracking
- Automated Grading (tracks overall average in courses once lessons are completed)
- Lesson plan generator
- Lesson Rescheduler
- Transcripts
- Activities Tracker
- Report Cards
- And other reports and teacher’s aides
There are many things that this program can help you with in planning and completing your year. You can track, not just attendance and grades, but awards, volunteer work, reading logs, and even events.
The accounts are easy to set up and you can have it individualized for each student. A really helpful feature is that you can enter assignments for the students and the have the program “Create-A-Plan.” This feature will then consider the number of pages etc in the assignments lists and then it splits the lessons based on lessons, workbooks or pages to read. This can be a little tricky if you have a specific way you like to do lessons but overall it worked pretty well.
Generating reports was super easy. Want to see the grade averages for a class? Press a button and, bam, a grade. Want to generate a report card? Easy. Want to see how many days you have done so for? Click on an attendance report. Reports were definitely easy.
You can generate report cards very generically like giving a grade for each course or you can make it more specific by weighting tests and quizzes more than worksheets and giving papers a different weight too and then entering grades and getting a final grade. It was very easy to work through – user-friendly.
Though we are not at the high school level, this would be a great program for those with high school students. You can generate transcripts and credit hours very easily. I think many times people feel a little worried about being able to accurately have a good transcript for their high schooler. I think this program would really give a homeschool mom a little more confidence in this area and MySchoolYear.com makes it really easy and intuitive. And the reminders make it easy to remember what you SHOULD be recording and tracking.
Overall, I think this is a great program and would be very helpful for homeschools with every age of students. Tracking attendance in my state is the primary requirements so tracking attendance and having an attendance record on file for each year is important so this feature is REALLY easy. And if you have turn in a lesson plan to your state, MySchoolYear.com makes it easy. This program is great and would likely help a homeschooling family meet any of their state requirements.
