Puzzle Fun with Enlivenze

We love working on critical thinking skills and fine motor skills with puzzles and games so we jumped at the chance to try the Tyrannosaurus Rex FlipStir Puzzle from Enlivenze LLC.

We actually love doing puzzles but my least favorite part is how quickly we lose puzzle pieces. Do a puzzle once and the next time we go to do it we are missing a piece. It’s exhausting.

So imagine my delight when I learned that FlipStir is a self-contained puzzle. You just…. Shake. Stir. Solve. It’s that easy!

Enlivenze LLC is the company that makes these great, innovative FlipStir Puzzles. Having received some great awards already, Enlivenze LCC has produced several puzzles, each self-contained with 10 colorful pieces. Each puzzles comes in a clear plastic tube with an attached, movable wand that moves the pieces within the tube into place to solve the puzzle.

To play with the puzzle you simply use the wand, moving it up and down to grab and place the pieces inside the tube. Gravity, creativity, and skill help you maneuvere the pieces into the proper order to solve the puzzle creating the picture. Since we received the Tyrannosaurus Rex, a level 1 puzzle, the goal was to make the T-Rex picture inside the tube.

The hand-eye coordination is very important and can be a little challenging for some. But a little determination and thinking goes a long way.

The puzzles are available currently in 2 difficulty levels – Level 1 and Level 2. We received a Tyrannosaurus Rex, which is a Level 1 puzzle. There is also a Rainbow Pencils Level 1 and then two Level 2 puzzles – Solar System and Statue of Liberty. The Level 1 puzzles have puzzle pieces that have straight edges and the level 2 puzzles have wavy edged pieces.

My 6 year old found the Level 1 quite challenging but he was certainly willing to work on it. My 11 year old found it challenging as well, though it didn’t take quite as long to get the hang of how to maneuver the pieces. Ten pieces doesn’t sound like much but don’t let the small number of pieces fool you, it’s definitely a challenge. But what’s really cool is that you can take it with you easily and everything is there to work on it. You don’t have to worry about lost or broken pieces. And a picture of the complete puzzle is on the bottom of the tube, making it easy to reference if you wish to check it out. I can see this being something nice to take on planes, car rides and to appointments. And just because you have solved it before, doesn’t mean it isn’t a challenge the next time too, which is great!
