If you read my blog then you know I love freezer cooking and I purchase a lot of my meat in bulk, so I was SOOOOO excited to give MyFreezEasy a try and — IT’S GREAT!!!!
I’m excited for you to read this review because, I’m telling you, this is one of the easiest and quickest meal prep sites I’ve tried, and I’ve looked at several. I was given a MyFreezEasy.com Freezer Meal Plan Membership to try and I got started right away.
MyFreezEasy is a freezer meal plan that is easy to use on your phone app or on the computer. It is REALLY easy to use. And if you don’t think it’s intuitive, which I do, there are many tutorial videos to help you learn how to use MyFreezEasy, which I think is great.
With membership, each month you receive new monthly meal plans with a “featured recipe” and instruction on how to prepare and freeze 5 meals from 8 “pre-set” meal themes. These are the “pre-set” plans to choose from:
- Traditional Meal Plan
- Gluten-Free Meal Plan
- Slow Cooker Meal Plan
- Clean Eats Meal Plan
- 20 Meals Plan
- All Chicken Meals Plan
- All Ground Beef Meals Plan
- All Pork Chops Meals Plan
I chose to start with the Slow Cooker Meal Plan. Each plan gives you 5 meals to prepare. But, the best part, is that you can SWAP recipes out to customize your meal plan. So if you think your family isn’t going to be keen on a recipe, you can swap it out for another one of the recipes in the MyFreezEasy.com database and you are good to go. I had just purchased a large amount of chicken, like I tend to do, and wanted all crockpot meals with chicken. This was EASY PEASY to do because I just swapped out the non-chicken crockpot recipes for other chicken crockpot recipes and then the menu was completed for me to use.
The meal download is AWESOME! It has the title, all the recipes each on their own page that is very easy to read, a shopping list by recipe, a shopping list by grocery section, a shopping list for freeze meal prep day by recipe (this one does NOT include sides and extras), a shopping list for freezer meal prep day by grocery section (not including sides and extras), and then step-by-step instructions for freeze meal prep day including what to do the night before and have ready on the counter to go. You also get a meal label download to make freeze meal labels for each of your meals and an option to email yourself the shopping list (WHICH IS TOTALLY AWESOME!!!!)
The recipe page is easy to read. Here is what is included on the recipe page, which I think is extremely thorough and great.
- title of the recipe
- approximate time it takes to prepare the meal
- approximate cooking time
- ingredients for single meal
- cooking directions for single meal
- assembly prep directions for 2 meals
- freeze & thaw instructions
- special notes
- dairy-free modifications
- gluten-free modifications
I love that you can prepare 2 meals at a time. And the portions sizes are very good so 1 meals really feeds my family of 5, though I have 2 littles eating off it but it would be easy to adjust the meat to use a little less or a little more if needed.
I also like that the instructions to just cook the meal are there in case you just want to cook a one meal instead of freezing two. And the special notes are usually about alternative ways to simplifying the meal, which is great. And there is always the notes on how to make the meals dairy-free and gluten-free, which is also a nice addition.
The shopping lists are easy to read visually and well organized. I really LOVE the MyFreezEasy feature of being able to email the list to myself. That is VERY helpful for me.
The Meal Assembly Instructions and Pre-Cook & Chop Instructions are easy to understand and included with each meal. This is a great way to get things organized before you prep your meals. The Assembly by Recipe (Set Out on the Counter) page is organized by recipe and includes what to do for each gallon-size plastic freezer bag or baking tray you are using for your meal prep.
The label prints are easy to use. NOTE: I didn’t get the Avery labels to use until after I did my first set of recipes so my pictures don’t include them but I’m excited to use them next time, I think using them will make it easier for my husband to use the freezer meals when he is home with the kids and I’m out of town. They are very nice and easy to print (I tried one page for the next freezer cooking session I have planned) and will make the use easier because you don’t have to look up the thawing and cooking instructions.
Customizing your meal plan is easy. There are so many types of recipes to choose from and the site allows you to drop and drag recipes into a special window to create your own, customized meal plan. This was my favorite feature and made it really easy to use. And each recipe allows you to determine the serving size between 2 and 8, making it even EASIER to customize the menu plan for your family’s needs.
Overall, I really like MyFreezEasy and think it an excellent way to get some meals in my freezer quickly and easily.
If you are new to freezer cooking, each month has prep videos for the menus to help you through the process. There is even a free freezer cooking online class you can sign up for on the website to check out if it’s right for you. If you sign up for the class, you get a free menu plan.
They have a new feature coming out soon that will allow you to FAVORITE your favorite recipes making customizing a menu with recipes your family liked and wants again even easier. The only feature I would like to see is one where you can add your own recipes into the database or your person “recipe box” or something so that you can mix the new, fun recipes that are in MyFreezEasy.com with some tried and true family favorites.
I think you will love MyFreezEasy and should give it a quick look. Freezer cooking has saved my family time and money. It doesn’t take long to get several meals in the freezer and then you are set on those days that you realize you haven’t planned anything for dinner. And getting something ready to go for tomorrow is easy if it’s in the freezer, just move to the frig before you go to bed and you are set. I’ll admit, I rarely think of it the night before so I’m usually putting the frozen contents into the crockpot and that works too. We still have a great meal by dinnertime.
