Do you include scripture memory work in your homeschool? As a primarily classical homeschool, memorization in the grammar stage (early years) is important and a very impressive part of our school. In addition to our other memory work, we like to include scripture memory as well.
If you have littles, you may be looking for some good verses to add to your scripture memory work repertoire? If that is you, I would love to share the memory verses we are working on this year to include in our scripture memorization schedule.
We typically like to concentrate on one memory verse a month during the early years. It gives us time to really get it, read about it, and explore it as well as commit it to memory (hide it in our hearts). We like to work on these to correspond with devotions for kids like VeggieTales devotions or this one. (You can read my review about the VeggieTales devotion here.)
Here are 12 kindergarten scriptures to memorize together. Some of these are very well-known and other, maybe not. Hopefully they will be a blessing to you and your family.
1- God So Loved the World that He gave His only begotten Son. That whosoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
2- Honor thy Father and Mother than they days may be long upon the land which the Lord, they God, giveth thee. Exodus 20:12
3- Hide his words in my heart so that I might not sin again God. Psalm 119:11
4- Do unto other as you would have them do unto you. Luke 6:31
5- Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord. Colossians 3:20
6- I can do everything through Him who gives me strength. Philippians 4:13
7- God is our refuge and strength, and every-present help in trouble. Psalms 46:1
