My family and I have been enjoying the adventures of Tom and Sarah in the book Britfield & the Lost Crown.
We received the audiobook through Audible and enjoyed listening to this engaging story.
Britfield & the Lost Crown by C.R. Stewart is the first book in a series of five adventure novels meant to transport children (and adults) into the suspenseful world of orphans Tom and Sarah.
The story takes place in the United Kingdom, which my son LOVES LOVES LOVES. The story follows Tom during this time in an orphanage and then, after his crazy hot-air balloon escape from the orphanage, he and his friend Sarah have adventures as he and Sarah evade the pursuit of Detective Gowerstone and the police.
Tom and Sarah befriend two professors who eventually help them on their way to discover if Tom’s parents are truly still alive. And if they are, is Tom still the heir to the throne? What??? I did say adventure?

My son enjoyed the setting and referrals to the British culture. My geography loving son really enjoyed hearing all the places he wanted to visit like Tom and Sarah.
So who is Tom? Tom is “age twelve, and has a wiry but muscular body. His eyes are deep blue and has brown hair. Like many of the other orphans, Tom doesn’t know anything about his parents, who they were or what had happened to them. But he hopes to find out someday.?
And Sarah? Tom’s bestie that goes on these adventures with him. “Sarah Wallace, twelve, had arrived at Weatherly Orphanage from Edinburgh, Scotland. Coming from a wealthy family, she had led a privileged life before her parents died in a suspicious automobile accident. She doesn’t have any relatives, except for a greedy uncle who only wanted the money, so she was shipped around to a few places and finally ended up at Weatherly. She has long, sandy-blond hair, hypnotic hazel eyes and an infectious laugh. Sarah and Tom are best friends.”
Overall, the storyline was interesting and the story was loaded with lots of adventure. The whole family enjoyed listening to this fun audiobook. We really enjoyed it and we definitely are looking forward to the next books in the series.
