It can be difficult to learn to play chess but Brain Blox makes it easy to teach even young children with Fun Family Chess. The whole family has been enjoying learning to play chess.
Fun Family Chess from Brain Blox is a fun 2 player game that teaches players how to play chess. The set comes with Fun Family Chess as well as a regular chess game. Fun Family Chess is a great way for beginner level players to play chess. The idea is that once you have played Fun Family Chess for a while then it is easy to learn the extra rules to play regular chess. The game is learned in stages making it less daunting to the younger players.

The game is really easy to play and, especially for the young ones, it’s more of a type of game that they are used to. But they are secretly learning the rules of chess while playing.

The set includes everything you need to get started. The set includes:
- Folding Wooden Chess Board
- 32 Wooden Chess Pieces in a Soft Pouch
- Full Color Chess Book

The kids had a great time playing and it was easy for them to do together without much parental intervention. However, we all took turns playing because it was fun. It was very different but fun.

“Earth’s most dandy and delightful, refreshinly refined, easy-peasy way to learn chess!”

My son already knows how to play chess. He said it was a little hard to step back and not follow all the rules right away but he didn’t mind it. My daughter doesn’t know how and it was a fun way for her to learn the rules.
The set really is nice quality. The board and pieces are wooden and sturdy, not flimsy. It seems well made. I liked that the board folds up into a storage box for the pieces. And inside fits bags for each set of pieces, which is nice.
The set also includes reference cards and a die. The reference cards are fun, especially for people like me who forget game rules such as who moves where and how because that is exactly what they show you. It really does teach the basics without having to know how to play the whole game.
The die is a little different concept. But this is how you get the beginners involved. You roll the die and follow the card instructions and you are playing the game and learning. Pretty cool right?
Overall we enjoyed this different way of playing and introducing chess. I think we will continue to use this set for a long time. It definitely grows with your family.
