My daughter has been wanting to study Spanish this year so what a blessing to have Excelerate SPANISH Streaming from Excelerate SPANISH to introduce her to Spanish.
Excelerate SPANISH is an online streaming Spanish program for your whole family to access. The program allows you to access Spanish 1 and Spanish 2 for a full year. Each year of Spanish as 24 lessons and each lesson is approximately 30-45 minutes long.
The video-based lessons are recorded in classroom-style lessons. the lessons have hand gestures, student skits, and stories. The author is a homeschool mom with many years of experience teaching ESL and makes the lessons fun for the student.
The lessons begin with an introduction to the vocabulary that will be learned in the lessons. Words are written on a whiteboard in the video and are easy to see. The pronunciations are clear and the definitions are given and emphasized with gestures that help the student remember the work and intended to help the student remember the meaning. This is considered to be a part of the Total Physical Response (TPR) teaching that has shown to be an effective tool in learning foreign languages such as Spanish.

What’s great is that there is no need for books needed to complete the course, though there are some and flashcards and games available on the site. You just log on to the lessons for streamed Spanish lessons.
The student feels like he or she is in the classroom with the class. The teacher goes over quizzing the course and the student is right there. The teacher does go back and forth between English and Spanish so it is not total immersion but many beginners prefer the switch.

Though the instructor was very easy to understand in my opinion, the student answers to questions and discussions were not always easy to hear or clear. This was a little frustrating at times but not something that prevents learning of the lessons.
The students are learning right away and we were able to see understanding and progress right away. The students act out dialogue to work on speaking the language. This was fun to watch and the kids enjoyed this part of the lesson.

Overall we liked the structure of the lessons. We would have liked the lessons to stick to 30 minutes or under but it was still manageable. The pace was good and there was progress early in the course making it easier to continue with the learning. The wall charts included in the lessons were helpful references and we decided we needed those in our homeschool room. Additionally, the natural flow of the lessons seems good.
