I am the Queen of to-do lists. I have a list for today, for the week, for the month, long term lists, someday lists...you name it, I probably have or have had a to-do list for it. (Getting through them is another story for another day. <grin>) Usually I have them stuck in my notebook which usually has other lists. I know...obsessive. So I have been struggling with ways to not repeat myself every day about what my daughter needs to do. So, naturally I decided that I had neglected ... read more
Free Winter Printables !!!
I stumbled upon the 2 Teaching Mommies website and am so glad I did. This week they have a free printable called their Winter Pack with lots of great winter, icicle and snowman fun. Though its for preschool, I printed out the Snowflake Sort and am using that in our winter busy bag for my 2 year old. He loves to sort things and find what goes with what. This will be a fun game and Avarie loves to help him do his "school." If you are looking for some preschool winter printables, this is a ... read more
Learning Science – Fun Review of Cycle 3 Classical Conversations Weeks 1-12 Science Sentences
As you know, we do love Classical Conversations. One of the areas of concentration is Science. In Cycle 3 Classical Conversations we study Anatomy/Physiology and Chemistry. Anatomy and Physiology are the first 12 weeks and Chemistry is the second 12 weeks. Though we are in the second half of the year and working on Chemistry, we love to review the first 12 weeks as well. However, there is a lot to review so I'm always looking for fun, quick ways to review facts that can keep it fresh in ... read more
More States and Capitals Fun !!
In Cycle 3 of Classical Conversation, the US states and capitals are learned and memorized. Since this is something that requires practice, we are always looking for fun ways to work on our states and capitals. Though we enjoy our Animaniacs song (see previous post), I have been looking for a fun game to play also. 3 Reasons We Love Classical Conversations
Classical Conversation has been a blessing to us. So I wanted to share 3 reasons we love Classical Conversations. 1- ALL WE NEED - Though it is a complete curriculum (Foundations requires Language Arts and English on your own however), you can use it as much or as little as you want and still get something out of it. The exposures to the subjects are broad and it is amazing to see the wide variety of topics, subjects, and facts that the kids learn so quickly. 2- ART AND SCIENCE - It covers ... read more

Why Do You Homeschool?
Everyone seems to be going through some revisions to their homeschool schedules at the beginning of the year. At this time of the year we see where we are, how our kids are doing, think about how our schedules are working, tweak things that work and don't work, and remember why we homeschool and what love about it. The Homeschool Mom is doing a great series on her blog about her reasons for homeschooling and did a great post today about some of her reasons that I thought were great. Check out ... read more
Changing up the Schedule in the New Year!
One of my plans for the new year is to revamp our homeschool schedule and make some changes to correlate with how my kids learn and what might be best for our day and our changing schedule. I had some ideas on how I wanted to change up our schedule that I wanted to implement but I also did some research on various ways other homeschoolers run their day. I wanted to include a little more structure but at the same time be open for changes, as we ALWAYS are changing something up to go with ... read more
National Static Electricity Day – Homeschooling Science Fun!
Today, January 9th, is National Static Electricity Day. Really, who knew right? However, since it is I figured it was a great day to have some science fun with static electricity. This year for science we have been studying anatomy/physiology and doing a nature study so atoms, protons, neutrons, and positive and negative charges haven’t really come up but, hey, it’s all about exposure to things when you are learning and having fun so I decided we would just have a quick lesson. What is ... read more
