Classical Conversations Blogroll
Classical Conversation is a great group and curriculum for the classical educating homeschool family. (See my post 3 Reasons We Love Classical Conversations). One of the best things about the Internet is being able to connect with others that you have things in common with. Connecting with other Classical Conversations (CC) families is no different. I follow several blogs of other CC moms and regularly glean great resources and ideas from their articles. Half a Hundred Acre Woods is ... read more
National Screen Free Week – Are you going Screen Free?
It’s National Screen Free Week, April 30-May 6, 2012. In today’s screen-enhanced, screen-saturated world, it seems almost impossible, doesn’t it? But there are so many benefits to being screen free. As a family, we monitor screen time pretty well; however, I know we could do better. So, to show our support of this campaign, we are going to implement screen-free week as we see it most feasible. Reading al fresco
Do you do any schooling outside? I mean other than a nature study? We have taken to enjoying the beautiful spring weather by "doing school" outside periodically. The kids have really enjoyed this and look forward to it. In fact, as the weather has spoiled us into thinking its summer, the kids are upset when I explain we cannot read outside today because it is rainy or too cold. Here are some ways to bring school outside: Reading - instead of curling up in your favorite reading chair, ... read more
Starting Out with our Nature Journal
Spring is a great time for a nature study. As we have began our transition to a Charlotte Mason homeschool, we have decided to begin integrating a Nature study into our week. We have gotten a nature journal and some supplies and started our weekly nature walks. However, since we are just getting started I have still been trying to decide the best way to work a nature study into our school. I am very impressed with Handbook of Nature Study's website article How to Organize Your Nature Notebook ... read more
